At around 9:00 AM on the 22nd July 2009 the longest total eclipse of the sun expected in the 21st century, up to six minutes, will sweep across Asia, and one of the best places to see this exhilarating event will be from eastern China. A series of following famous tourist cities will be covered:

Shanghai: With a population of more than 18 million (and over 5.8 million migrants), it is one of the most populous and most developed cities in the China. As a tourist city, it attracts travelers from both home and abroad. The Yuyuan Garden, the Jade Buddha Temple, the Bund, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the Nanjing Road, etc. all deserve your travel here.

Suzhou: As a city in eastern China’s Jiangsu Province, it is considered as beautiful as the paradise. A major tourist city, it features classic gardens and elegant natural scenery. A series of attractions have been listed in the World Heritage List, including the Humble Administrator’s Garden, the Lingering Garden, the Garden of Master of Nets and the Mountain Villa with Embracing Beauty. You will never feel disappointed whenever you come to this charming city.

Hangzhou: Known as the Paradise on Earth, it has long been a famous tourist attraction. Hangzhou is a city with rich history and culture, spanning back over 2000 years. As the most renowned attraction in Hangzhou, the West Lake provides the idyllic image of Hangzhou that most people leave with. This huge circular fresh water lake will give you a deep impression of this famous city.

Jiaxing: It borders Hangzhou to the southwest and Shanghai to the northeast. Jiaxiang boasts richtourrist resources. Xitang and Wuzhen are the most famous water towns in China.

Tongling: According to the report, Tongling will be the best observation point for this coming total solar eclipse.

Hefei: As the political, economic and cultural center of Anhui Province, Hefei lies in between the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River. It is proud of its natural beauty and historical relics, like the Chao Lake and the Memorial Temple of Lord Bao.

Wuhan: Beijing the capital city of Hubei Province, Wuhan is an important central city in China and political, economic, scientific & technological, cultural and financial center in inland China. Having abundant human cultural and tourist resources, Wuhan is also a famous city in Chinese history and culture as well as a city of beautiful scenes of hills, water and parks. The Yellow Crane Tower, the Guiyuan Temple, the East Lake Scenic Zone are all located here and also Wuhan is the transit city of famous Three Gorges.

Yichang: Being called Yiling in ancient China, Yichang is located inthenorthern bank of the Yangtze River. It is beautiful city, famous for its Three Gorges travel.

Chongqing: Located in the southwest of china and upper reaches of Yangtze River, Chongqing is a charming metropolis with over 3000 years history. Towering among the mountains and river valleys, Chongqing is also called “mountain city”. The world-renowned Three Gorges of the Yangtze River are located at the border of Chongqing and Hubei Province.

Chengdu: Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province, renowned for its fertile land and agricultural wealth, which have earned the city the nickname “Storehouse of Heaven”. Here you can enjoy a series of famous attractions, like Jiuzhaigou, Mt. Qingcheng, Mt. Emei, panda breeding center, etc.
